It's A New World

I don't know about you but all the software, apps, etc... drive me crazy.  Just tooooo much!  This is very funny, though, and possibly on the horizon.

We are receiving the end results of the Arctic Vortex; 15 degrees last night and the night before. It is, brrrrrrrrr, cold here.  I know it's a lot colder in Canada, Wyoming, Wisconsin, etc... but here, in the Land of Enchantment, we are not used to this, especially in November.

Stay warm!

Marcelle as Elsa

Here is Marcelle, our youngest granddaughter, on Hallowe'en with her teacher.  She is a real 'Frozen' aficionado and so went as Elsa for school and trick or treating that evening.  She loves her preschool and will be in Kindergarten next year.

Hope you all had a fun Hallowe'en!

Wendy

My sisters have blessed me with nieces and nephews: Wendy is the oldest and daughter of my sister, Connie, and my brother-in-law, Peter (Peter is really more of a brother as I never remember a time when he wasn't in my life).  She is married to Shaun and has two wonderful grown sons:  Max and Sam.  I remember, well, when she was a little girl, sitting in her living room brushing her hair - which she loved. Still gorgeous!

Cousin Love

This is my cousin, Diana, and her husband, Barry.  The photo was taken about a week ago near their summer home in Métis Sur Mer in the Gaspé Peninsula in Québec, Canada.
They have been struggling with his bile duct cancer for over a year.  He was in remission for a while but it is now back.  It seems they are going to try something a little unusual in the way of a treatment.  Please join us in praying for the success of this treatment.

Autumn Leaves

It's that time of year when leaves turn to red, burgundy, and gold.  The northeastern part of the continent is spectacular at this time of year.  If you live there, take a drive through the area and just let the colors envelope you.

NEVER FORGET!

Some people seem to have forgotten what happened on September 11, 2001.  With what is happening with ISIS now, this is a huge mistake.  These people hate everyone who isn't in agreement with them, especially the USA.  Be vigilant and never forgot all those who lost their lives on 9/11/2011.

God Bless America!

Hot - Hot - Hot

Well, after the nice month of rain a couple of times a week and temperatures in the 80s, we are back to the hot summer weather in the mid to high 90sand no rain, for the next couple of weeks - they are not sure - hope it does not go beyond that.  We still need more rain and we are all hoping for it.

Happy Labor Day!!!

Surprise!

It is never a fun moment in life when you are surprised with this news.  In the time we are now in, it is happening more frequently than the norm.  Some may deserve this news but most do not.  It is a sad state of affairs but it is reality. Pray for all those who have received this news, and their families.

Have a really great Labor Day Weekend!  BBQ!!!!! (John works - Boo Hoo!).

Happy Birthday, Simon!

Last Saturday we celebrated John's brother's 63rd birthday.  Simon had never been to Chili's so we took him there for lunch.  We had a great time - great food, service, and we had a lot of laughs.  We always enjoy our time with Simon.

We LOVE Rain!

For the first time since we moved here, April 1, 2007, we have had a lot of rain in the summer. Just this last week it has rained, hard and long, three times.  The high desert is totally in bloom; instead of the usual beiges and browns, we have greens and blue greens and desert flowers are blossoming in oranges, whites, and purples.  Tome Hill, which is 5 minutes from us, is now green - just in the last week; we have never seen it green before.  Very exciting and beautiful.

Last Friday Blog

Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know that this will be the last time I post
on a Friday.
My life, HaHa, is not nearly interesting enough to post twice
a week.
So, I decided that I will post every Monday - just in case something
interesting happened over the weekend - right, sure.

Anyway - have a super weekend!!!

Lovely Roxie

Such a lovely, sweet, talented young lady.  I can hardly believe that she is 13 years old.  Just seems like yesterday that she was born and we held her tiny little self.  She has an amazing, delicate voice - will she do something with that voice one day???? We love and miss her very much.

Suggestions, Anyone?

I have never worked anywhere, and I have worked in corporate when I was a young one, where suggestion boxes worked.  Usually, people wrote things to criticize others in the business - more of a 'tattletale' kind of thing happened.  Most businesses don't really want to know what you have to say - with exceptions, of course.

Have a wonderful, fun weekend!!!!

Early Happy Birthday, Marcelle!!!

We had such a wonderful visit with Misha and Marcelle for four days - it was sad to see them go.  Misha and I went and had a manicure (Misha) and pedicure (me) together.  We had a really good time and laughed a lot together - it really felt good.  Friday we celebrated Marcelle's 5th birthday (really September 5) with lots of gifts (two of which were Frozen fun stuff), a great dinner of Pop's wonderful chicken strips that are crispy and succulent at the same time and.... the above ice cream cake.  Marcelle LOVES chocolate so it was a chocolate cake, ice cream, icing, and whipped cream puffs.  It was decorated with Frozen and added to by Marcelle with a clown, balloons, etc...  We all had a great time.  Pop, Uncle Simon, and Marcelle went to Home Depot on Saturday where Marcelle made a birthday present for her dad - lots of hammering and painting and, in one little boy's case - eating of paint - Lol!!!  We then enjoyed a nice pizza and birthday cake lunch with Uncle Simon at home. We love and miss them so much - how sweet to have them here with us for a few days.

LeClair Visit!!!

Misha and Marcelle are visiting us this week for four days.  We can hardly wait - so much to do with them:  pedicures for the three girls, Home Depot project with Pop, lunch out with Uncle Simon, visit with Grandma Rosiak, play and pool time with neighbor children and..........birthday celebration for Marcelle's 5th birthday (a month and a few days early)!!

See you next Monday - have a great week!

A New Career?

This could be an idea for a new career - if it would work.  Think how simple it would be.  Just set it up and leave (hoping of course no one steals the tips received before you pick them up) and come back every couple of hours for the tips.  Hmmm.

Have a terrific weekend!

Trains

I love trains.  I really miss traveling on them; it has been sixteen years since the last time.  I wish I could travel that way again but that's not going to happen with the vertigo thing going on.  Traveling by trains is: so peaceful - fun watching our country go by the window - exciting meeting fellow travelers - relaxing while reading a good book.  Amtrak!  I miss you!!!

Me, Me, Me

I find it fascinating how we all manage to 'zero in' on ourselves.  It can be amusing or very frustrating.  I am trying to listen more and talk less - not an easy thing for our family.  LOL!!!

Have a truly wonderful weekend!

Hot and Humid!

It has been in the low 90s, raining every other day or so, and humid.  A real surprise as it is hardly ever humid except when it is actually raining.  This morning we had 80% humidity but no rain and none is expected; well, perhaps a chance this afternoon.  Not used to the humidity but it is a nice change from out usual 4 % - 8 %.  The Summer Monsoon has definitely arrived!

New Stuff

Every time a "New Thing" comes out it seems there are an enormous amount of problems with it.  Whether it be a smartphone, app, computer 'gizmo', DVR upgrade,or whatever - issues seem to abound.  So, my philosophy, if I am interested in the new item I will wait - see what happens, if it gets fixed, etc... before I buy.  Safer that way.

Have a wonderful, fun, safe summer weekend!

Pinky!

Rebekah is 16 1/2 years old.  She is our oldest granddaughter of three.  She is beautiful (look at those eyes), intelligent, funny, creative (she's been writing and illustrating books since she was three! and check out the hair color - it changes multiple times a year), VERY funny, and we love her (as we love all our beautiful granddaughters) so very much.  We have only seen her twice in 2009 and 2012 since they moved to the Czech Republic in 2007 when she was 9 1/2; she left a little girl and now she is a young woman. We miss her, Roxie, Krista, and Danny very much.

Summer Fun

Misha and Marcelle enjoying their pool yesterday.  Some of the best times we all spent together, when my girls were young, were at the pool.  John and I grew up loving to swim and we made sure the girls learned also.  They are (not sure how long it's been since Krista swam) both good swimmers. Krista's girls too.  So, we have a family of 'fish'.

Hot, Hotter, Hottest!

All week we have been in the 90s but now we are in the low 100s - it looks like it will be this way until mid-week.  We will remain in the mid to high 90's after that for a while.  May even get some rain.  I am sure you are wondering 'why the weather forecast?'  Well, around here, weather (rain and heat) are of prime interest to us all.  We have been in a major  drought for many years and it's not looking very good for this summer.  We have already had a major fire on the Navajo Reservation at the northwest corner of the state.  They just got in 100 percent contained after about 10 days - there has been a lot of wind until a few days ago.  700 firefighters are there. There is hope for rain, though.  The predictions are looking good for El Nino this coming winter - which means:  rain!!!

Hope you all keep cool and have a great weekend!

Never Use Them

Above is one reason not to use an ATM - Lol!  We stopped using them years ago when we each forgot to enter the withdrawals into our checking account register and almost had bounced checks.  We vowed never again and never did.  When we get the cards from banks we are sure to let them know that we will never use them nor activate them, but the cards are useful for ID at the bank, of course.

It has been really hot here; 95 - 100 the last few days and will be all week as well.

Piggy Bank

I don't know about you but I never had a piggy bank.  I know a lot of kids who did, though.  They saved their pennies, nickels, and dimes until they had enough to buy whatever it was they were saving for.  Until I was a lot older, sixteen to be exact, I never saved for anything.  It was not something that was discussed in our home.  When I was sixteen I got my first job for the summer in a really nice department store. It was fun working there and the clothing discount was awesome; that's where a lot of my money went.  I would put money aside for clothes I wanted and then purchased them, at a discount, once I had the full amount.  I worked for them on and off - summers and Christmastime.

Have a truly fun weekend!

Nephew and Great-Niece

Such an adorable photo of my nephew, Chris (son of my sister Baba), and his infant daughter, Skyler.  This was taken a long time ago as Skyler is an adult now and attending university.
Happy Father's Day, Chris!

Stephen and Janet

This is a photo, taken last weekend at a wedding, of my oldest sister's son, Stephen and his wife, Janet.  They are a lovely couple.  Haven't seen Stephen since my mum died in 1998 - great guy.  Have never met Janet but, according to Steve, "She's The One", and I believe him.

Have a wonderful last Spring weekend!

Work, Work, Work!

This is really funny, for most people, but for John it is the opposite.  He works full time and then has 6 employers (merchandisers) he has been working for since 2010.  He gets up at about 3:00 or 3:30 a.m. most days of the week - does the merchandising work  and then goes to his full time job at 10:00 a.m.  Sometimes he even has to do some work after his full time job. He gets home, most nights at about 7:45 a.m., eats, does the paperwork for the merchandisers, and then goes to bed about 10:30 or 11:00.  He works his a** off.  I wonder if he truly knows how much his hard work is appreciated.  Because of the 2 kinds of vertigo I have, I am unable to work as I used to so he is 'making up' for all that lost income.  John, I really appreciate all that you do - not only how hard you work outside the home but all the help you give me here at home.  I love you.

Dorval Island

Every summer, my family spent it at our cottage on Dorval Island on Lac St. Louis near Montreal.  The best childhood memories I have are from this time.  We would move out there right after school ended, sometimes just before, and we would move back to town in early or mid-September.  Here I learned to swim and dive(and compete), to fish with my father, to 'captain' a speedboat, and sail at the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club.  The sound of a lawnmower brings me right back to that time and place, as does the smell of fresh mowed grass.  The cottage and property looked different then (this was taken a couple of years ago).  My mother had it very pristine and not so overgrown.  It was truly lovely.  Probably the only thing I miss in Canada, other than family, is this place - my 'real home', as my Daddy would say.

Have a memorable weekend!

June!

Sorry, again.  Cannot upload anything - photos, etc...

I can hardly believe it is June already.  We are definitely having summer weather here; sunny and in the high 90s - we may see 100 this week.  Unfortunately, after having such nice rain showers last weekend, we have had nothing since. Hopefully, we will see some rain soon

Hope you are all having wonderful weather!

Sorry - No Cartoon!

Been having more and more trouble uploading cartoons, photos, etc... to my blog.  If it continues, I will probably stop blogging.  But for now, I will carry on...

The weather has been gorgeous here; high 80s - low 90s; mostly sunny but some rain last weekend that we REALLY needed - we are still in a drought.  The weather predictions, as well as the Farmer's Almanac, say that we are going into an El Nino which means a lot of precipitation this coming winter and perhaps some this summer.  Sorely needed here in New Mexico.

Hope your weather this weekend is perfect!

Happy Birthday, John!

Today is John's 60th birthday.  Can hardly believe it.  We met 36 years ago (June 17th) when he was just 24.  It really was love at first sight for the both of us.  We declared our love for one another the third time we were together.  We married just a hair short of 6 months after we met.  There were some who were skeptical about how long we would be together but...here we are still loving and laughing together.

John, I will always love you.

Happy Birthday!

Great Idea!

Honestly, I love almost all vegetables, even broccoli and cauliflower, but...I do not, I repeat, I do not like Brussel Sprouts at all.  I have tried them over and over for my whole life and still...Yuck!  Sorry!

Skyler in Hong Kong

Our great-niece, Skyler, was recently in Hong Kong.  She is obviously very good at yoga.  What you don't know and can't see is that there is a thousand foot drop to her right.  I guess, you might say, that she is very confidant and brave.

Have a wonderful spring weekend!

Spring Heat Wave!!!

It was 90° yesterday - about 88° today.  Will be in high 70s for a few days and then back up to high 80s.  Whew!  This is just too soon; we haven't had a real Spring yet!  Yikes!!!

Remember?

When I was a kid I just loved Slinkys.  We had a very long twisting staircase; I would put my Slinky at the very top and just loved watching it go down.  Such fun!  Once we moved to an apartment, when I was eleven, that fun stopped; no stairs. I hope kids still play with them.

Have a really wonderful weekend - hope the weather is nice for you.
