Tonsilectomy and Adnoidectomy Done!!

Marcelle had the surgery early on Friday morning.  She was released on Saturday morning.  The surgeon said all went well.  She is doing just fine and we are so thankful.  She called us Sunday and told us all kinds of stories about what happened in the hospital and other delightful tales of her toys, etc... What fun and happiness to have your granddaughter want to talk to you that much; we were on the phone with her for about a half hour.  Love this little one as we love our other two dear granddaughters, Bekah and Roxie.

Above photo is the nurse removing Marcelle's IV (boy, was she happy - she had pulled out the original in recovery and had to have this one put in) on Saturday before her discharge.

Christmas AND SURGERY

Here are photos of Flo, my mother-in-law, and Simon, my brother-in-law, on Christmas Day at their Assisted Living facility.  John went and gave them gifts and had a wonderful Christmas Lunch with them.  Unfortunately, I was too dizzy to go with him.  We Skyped with both Krista and family and Misha and family which was awesome.

**********Please pray for Misha and Alan's four year old daughter, Marcelle.  Our littlest granddaughter has sleep apnea and is having her tonsils and adenoids removed at 7:30a.m. pacific time this morning.  Please pray for a successful and uneventful surgery followed by a swift, smooth recovery.  Thank you**********

Merry Christmas!!!

Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas.  It is so easy to forget when we are shopping for gifts, planning parties, attending parties, opening our gifts, etc...  Please remember why we celebrate.

Have a wonderful Christmas!

The Perfect Gift

Some people are very difficult to buy for; either they want to have cash or gift cards or they have everything.  But, we keep on trying to figure out what to get them.

Enjoy this last weekend before Christmas and if you haven't finished your shopping keep your eyes open for that perfect gift.

Just did some Christmas Decorating this weekend.  Our tiny Christmas packages and bells add to our dining table for the Christmas season.

Star Trek

I am not a convention-attending Trekkie although Krista and Danny have attended one in L.A.) but I am a Trekkie.  Love the original show, Next Generation, Star Trek Enterprise and ALL the movies - even the new ones.  Can't help myself.

Have a super weekend - we will be as we are celebrating our 35th Anniversary tomorrow. John has taken off four days that we are spending together. Really enjoying it.  Time with him is rare as he works so hard and so many hours.

Christmas Letters

We stopped sending out Christmas letters years ago; it always sounded like we were bragging.  We love to receive recent photos of people, though.  They are placed in our Scrapbook/photo albums right after Christmas.

Enjoy the Winter Weather and Stay Safe!

Salute The Tree!

We don't get a big tree for Christmas anymore as the the 'kids' aren't here with us.  But...we do get a nice fresh 4 foot tree we put on a table with lights and small decorations.  It really cheers up our Christmas house.  We put out a few decorations and Christmas Starbucks Bears and we also put a fresh, pretty centerpiece on our dining room table.  The centerpiece (ordered from a farm that does beautiful wreaths, centerpieces, etc...) will be here next week and we will also buy our tree next week together.

It was only 10 degrees last night and right now (7:30 a.m.) it's only 20 - cold.  Brrr!

Have a great weekend!

SNOW!

We received about three inches of snow between Sunday and today.  This is so early for us - we have never had it snow this early since we moved here 6 1/2 years ago.  It was really nice to see the 'white stuff'.  I love the way it looks and all the fun kids have with it but...don't like to drive in it.

The storm that brought us this snow has been really bad in certain areas and is moving across the country and will, unfortunately, probably ruin some Thanksgiving plans this week.

Be safe!

Looking Forward To This?

I laughed so hard when I saw this; couldn't help myself.  Of course, if it were pertinent to us I guess I would be crying instead.

Have a fun weekend!

My Girls

The photo of Misha was taken by Alan recently when they were out on 'date night'.  The one of Krista was taken at Wadi David by the Dead Sea during her recent trip to Israel.

I love and miss both my girls so very much.  I wish we were all living near one another as it used to be.  But, such is life!  We were blessed, for so long, to be living near one another hopefully that will happen again some day.

Have a super weekend!

Let Down Your Hair!

Marcelle loves Rapunzel and so went out on Hallowe'en dressed as her.  According to her daddy they had a great time.  When I was little I loved the story of Rapunzel:  "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!"  Since the movie, "Tangled", was released a whole new generation of children enjoy this story as well.

Uh, Bad Planning?

Some of us never get it together - all the time.  Some of us never get it together - most of the time.  Some of of us never get it together - some of the time.  This guy doesn't even know he never gets it together; at least I'm not that bad.

Hope you have a really great weekend!

Hallowe'en Is Almost Here!

Keep your eyes open on Thursday evening for all those witches and goblins.  Hope all the children have a fun, safe time.  Always had fun on Hallowe'en when I was a kid.  Oh that candy!

Sick Car

John is now in the process of putting back together the front end of his car.  It is almost finished so I should have my car back next weekend or before should he have time to finish it before work one morning.

Other than that, the weather is gorgeous:  high 60's to low 70's and sunny - lovely Autumn weather in the Enchanted State.

Yikes!!!!

This last few months, and weeks in particular, have felt like the above cartoon; waiting for the big hit.  Our government is back on track --- well, as much as they are able, anyway.  The collateral damage they caused is painful to consider --- they obviously considered nothing but themselves  ***BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE - BOTH HOUSES***.  I will vote out anyone who was involved in my state - the whole bunch should go!!!

Largest Ballon Event In The World

Sadly, John was unable to attend the 2013 Balloon Fiesta last week as his car died on the Thursday before and he spent his entire week of vacation tearing apart the front end.  It is still apart and, hopefully, he will be able to get it back together this weekend (or the following at the latest).  In the meantime, he is using my car to go to work.

The photos above are from a local television station.  The top two are of the mass ascension which occurs each morning.  The third is the hummingbird (new this year), fourth is the Creamland Cow, and finally the Angry Bird (also new this year).  This is the largest balloon fiesta in the world; over 500 hot air balloons are here each year.  Try to make it to the 2014 Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta next October!

Vacation!

Sorry - no posts this week - on vacation.

Photo is of Bora Bora (I wish!).

Have a great week - see you next Monday.

Autumn Is Here!

It will be in the 60's today for the first time.  It has been about 80 all week.  It will be cool over the weekend and up into the low to mid 70's next week.  For New Mexico - that's Autumn!!!  We have had a very long, hot summer so this weather is most welcome.

We had a week's vacation planned but John's car conked out yesterday morning.  He had to borrow my car to go to work and again today.  He will be changing out the fuel pump on his car on Sunday as, due to delays because of the car, he will have to do some of his part-time work tomorrow.  Hopefully, by Monday, we will be able to enjoy our Staycation with a few glitches.

Have a great weekend!!

Semantics

So far everyone is blaming the Republicans for holding up the Budget Bill but, in truth, everyone is to blame: Republicans, Democrats, and the President.  The President says the Republicans will not compromise but he refused to give on anything as well; ditto the Democrats.  So, here we are -- AGAIN.

Unrecognizable

When you have watched TV as long as I have - 61 years - you get to see a lot of entertainers age - or not, depending on who has had plastic surgery.  There are some who have had so much 'done' they are barely recognizable (meaning they need close captioning under them so you know who they are).  Then, thank God, there are those who have chose to grow older gracefully, as God intended.  Good for them!

Nap Time

Thumper, our sweet little girl, arrived with only one item:  this huge stuffed dog from Toys R Us that she takes naps on all the time.  She chews on all her toys but not this one or the soft bed, in her kennel, she sleeps on at night.  She is a real cutie!

Have a super weekend.

Following In The Footsteps

This is my great-niece, Sky Cowans.  She is a Sophomore in college and is one of the anchors at her university's radio station.  Her great-grandfather, my dad, and her 2nd cousin, my daughter - Misha, are proud.  She comes by this talent/gift honestly. We are all proud of you, Sky.

Birthdays!

Alan and Marcelle's birthdays are only a week apart so, each year on Labor Day Weekend, they have a big party for both of them.  We were lucky enough to be there for the party last year; we had such fun and it was great seeing all of Alan, Misha, and Marcelle's friends and celebrating with them.  This photo was taken this past weekend - it was Marcelle's 4th birthday and...I won't give away Alan's age!!

Have a super weekend!

He's Not and Neither Am I

Soooo funny!

I have never and would never ask such a question (even when I was thin).  John would never think to answer such a question unless with an extremely complimentary answer.

Have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!!

Lest We Forget

I know just how they feel.  Every once in a while (maybe more than that), I forget the word for something or what I was just doing or where I put something.  It had begun to worry me until I saw my doctor for my annual physical.  Apparently, when you are older, your brain is storing so much information that it takes a little time, sometimes, to retrieve information.  As long as I actually do remember (which I do) it's perfectly normal.  Whew!

Final Phase - Annual Physical

So all my lab work is back and, according to my doctor, all is stable.  That's good to know.  Last item left to do this morning:  Mammogram.  No anticipating any issues there.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  We had a busy Saturday:  nice lunch out together, bought paint to complete our Master Bath Reno, groceries.  May not sound like much to you all but it was a lot for me.  Felt good almost the whole day.

Bathing Suit? NO!!!

No one, and I mean no one, will ever see me in a bathing suit again.  It may not be quite as bad as this cartoon but, believe me, it is not far off.  There are wonderful things about having big boobs and then there are the bad things (gravity being the worst). Ah, to have my bikini days back - just reminiscing.

Hope you all have a terrific, fun weekend!

Bathroom Remodel - In Progress

We have a master bath remodel ongoing - 11 days and counting.  Just a bit left and we're done.  Normally we would not spend this kind of money but I was at the point where I could not take a shower very often; I had to step over a 14" high by 5" wide lip of our garden tub in order to take a shower.  Due to my two kinds of vertigo, it was becoming very difficult as well as dangerous ( I have almost fallen several times).  So, we now have a walk-in shower with a 4" by 4" step over.  The floor has also been replaced with tile that matches the shower as the flooring was stained from previous (former owners) leaking as well as a tear (from my vanity chair).  The large window in the shower was removed due to evidence of leaking.  Our contractor found mold all down that wall and around each corner.  Everything was replaced, a small sliding window was added above where water cannot get to it from the shower.  We are also painting all the wood: cabinet, medicine chest, and frame around mirror and have added a new counter and sink.  We will also be painting the room itself.  When it is all complete I will post the before and after photos.  Can hardly wait.  The shower is absolutely gorgeous.  It is costing us about half of what it would normally cost as our contractor is the same person who does all our work around here and has done so since we moved here 6.5 years ago.

****Annual Physical went very well.  Have kept off 21 pounds, blood pressure is excellent - working on more.  Awaiting blood test results.****

Annual Physical Today

Off to doctor this early a.m. for annual physical.  Don't anticipate any issues, other than the usual stuff I have.  Have lost and kept off a little weight but had lost more and gained some of it back so...he will be happy and unhappy with me (as I am).

Have a great weekend!

Weekend With Misha and Marcelle

We had a wonderful, fun long weekend with our precious Misha and Marcelle.  Fun cooking/juicing/play with little Marcelle.  They made friends with our little Thumper puppy too.  Celebrated Marcelle's fourth birthday as well...Princess stuff everywhere!!!  Marcelle also made friends with the children next door:  Ian, Eli, and Ava -- playtime fun! We will miss them terribly when they leave this afternoon

Sprint? Verizon? Cricket?

Every 2 years we have to make the decisions:   which phone/tablet etc...   which carrier?  B-O-R-I-N-G!!!!  I am way over the two years.  My phone is simple and does what I need it to do - no online, (I have a Kindle Fire HD and a PC) just  calls and texts.  As long as it still does its thing I am changing NOTHING!

Have a super, duper weekend!
