Eek!

I have always loved mice. Did not have them as pets when I was a kid; not sure anyone did in those days. But, my sister and I found some babies when I was a kid. I guess they had been abandoned by their mother - we took care of them, feeding them every two hours for days but they were so young when we found them that they didn't make it. It was really sad. When our girls were young we had mice and it was such fun - they were so cute. Love little brown field mice too - they are adorable.

Flu Shot

I have been trying to get my flu shot for several weeks without any success. One medical facility nearby, where I have received a flu shot in the past, is no longer doing them - strike #1. Another place is too expensive - strike #2. The last place I tried, I was a little dizzy (normal for me) and knew I couldn't hang around waiting and they told me it would be about a half hour - strike #3. So, tomorrow, I will try again. There is no strike #4 so I guess I would be "out" - does that mean I shouldn't get the flu shot???? No blog tomorrow as I will be leaving fairly early to get there before the "crowd" does.
Remember Full Service?

There are young adults out there who do not even know what "full service" is. This is a shame. I loved "full service". You sit in your car and a nice (usually but could also be surly) young man comes out and starts filling your gas tank with fuel. He then checks your oil to see if you need anything and then proceeds to wash and squeegee each and every window of your car. Sigh. Just awesome is what it was. As I get older and dizzier filling my gas tank can be a problem; I usually have John do it when we go out together on one of his days off. So, I really do miss "full service". Oh well, life goes on.

Just Plain Funny

This cartoon is just too funny. Laughed out loud when I first saw it. Hope you feel the same way.
All is quiet on the home front. Nothing really new. More bad dizzy days than good, unfortunately, but that's the way it is. Weather is starting to cool down a bit and will be in the low to mid 80's for the next few days. Storms over the next few days as well. I love it when it rains here as we have a spectacular view where we can see all the clouds looming and all the lightening.

Baseball

We are not big baseball fans but we almost always watch the World Series. It's is always fun to watch athletes compete in a championship. Don't know who the teams will be yet but I'm looking forward to watching the series. I never actually played baseball as a kid; swam, sailed, played a little tennis and a lot of hockey also basketball - baseball was not a big thing in Canada when I was a child, at least not for girls.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Bear Attacks!

There have been so many bear attacks this summer - quite a few here. I cannot imagine how frightening it would be to be attacked by a bear with their long sharp claws. Some have died, many have been seriously mauled, and a few lucky ones have received only minor injuries. Apparently, there are an excess of bears in many parts of the country and so there is a discussion as to whether they should increase the number of bears that can be killed during hunting season; now, that won't make them angry.
