The above cartoon is silly but, unfortunately, all too true.  To embarrass children in this way does not make for a cohesive family.  They are all your kids, for Heaven's sake!

Lovely Plaza

This is the Albuquerque Plaza in front of City Hall.  The building where John works at Lockheed-Martin is in the background just to the right of the fountain.  He works on the 6th floor and has a wonderful view.  Although Albuquerque is a small city of about 500,000 people it has a lot to offer:  a lot of theater, concerts, museums, excellent restaurants, sculpture and art on the city streets, a vibrant night life and we also have a symphony and an amazing ballet company in the area.  Nearby, Santa Fe and Taos have some of the most amazing art in the world.  The Native American culture is very strong here making this whole area more exciting and interesting.  If you are into casinos, boy are you in the right place!

Bear Company

We are in the midst of a three year drought here in New Mexico - it is the worst in the entire country.  It not only affects us but all the animals who cannot find food.  In the last week, people have found bears (some adult and some cubs) in their yards, on their neighborhood streets, looking for food.  It is sad, truly.  We all have to be careful not to leave food out or our garbage cans open OR our really small pets unattended outside.  Poor little guys (well, not the adults - stay clear of them!!!).

A VERY IMPORTANT DAY TODAY

John and I met 35 years ago today in Scottsdale, Arizona.  It was love at first sight.  We married 6 months later (minus 3 days) and have loved one another more and more ever since.    John surprised me by taking today off so we could be together - what a sweetheart he is. The best decision I ever made was to marry him (outside of accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior, of course).  I love you, John.

Happy Father's Day to all the daddys out there.  A special one to my husband who is not only a stellar father and grandfather but an amazing husband.  I love you, John.

HOT!!!

We have been in the high 90s for the last week and will be at 100 or higher for at least the next week.  This is way too hot for this time of year (about 10 degrees higher than the norm) and, in addition, we are in a 3 year drought.  Everything is dry, dry, dry.  We already have 6 forest fires in the state and the present and upcoming weather does not bode well for our state.

John is working seven days a week right now - pooped out, for sure -- but it is only for a couple of months.

Swimsut? Never!

I have not worn a swimsuit in many years.  Stripes do not help you one is a wee bit 'fluffy' nor do floral patterns or polka dots.  If we had a pool perhaps then, but only then.  Weight has been an up and down issue for me for many, many years.  I have lost - and kept off - 30 pounds over the last year and a half and I am now going for more.  Wish me luck!
