Getting Off The Phone
Have you ever been on the phone with someone and told them you have to get off because the water is boiling and you have to put the pasta in? They keep talking. Have you ever told them, when they called, that you have just sat down to dinner so you'll have to call them back? They keep talking. Have you ever answered the phone and told them that you were just walking out the door to go to an appointment so they can call you back later? They keep talking. Why is it that some people don't listen or, worse, think that what they have to say is more important than what you are doing? Have never figured it out. It is frustrating - right?

Relax!
This may seem funny coming from this anal retentive, uptight woman but it is important. We all need to take a breath and relax. We are all 'up in arms' about something, or worried, or really angry, or scared. We have to let it all go and relax and trust God. We are NOT in control. We cannot have everything 'go our way'. Life is what it is: unpredictable, difficult, wonderful, frightening, blissful, stressful, joyous... Breathe.

Even In Heaven
I now keep a little book with all my usernames and passwords - really???? I am so tired of all of it, frankly, but pretty much stuck with it all. Being that I don't go out to shop, hardly ever, I do most online...thus all the passwords, etc... Yuck! But, I must say, I enjoy the convenience of online shopping EXCEPT when I have to return something, pay shipping, and NOT get shipping refunded which means I pay twice. Oh well! That is the nature of online shopping.

Doggy Vacuum
What is it about dogs that they love to eat anything (pretty much) and everything (almost) that they find around where you eat and in the kitchen. Every evening, at least once, Tiggy cruises around the kitchen 'sucking up' whatever is on the floor. He then cruises around where we sit to eat to make sure he has missed anything yummy. So funny!

Online Personal Ads
I understand people trying to find the right 'match'. I understand that some people even 'meet' online and end up married. However, I am a little concerned about going into this literally 'blind'. You have no idea whom you have connected with and yet give out info in order to meet in person. I am a bit of a coward -- don't think I would take a chance on this -- the risk is quite high.

Sailing
Recently Alan, Misha, and Marcelle went sailing on the Bay with friends. To my knowledge it was the first time for each of them. They really had a great time. More sailing in their futures? When I was young, I was sent to the Yacht Club to the Squadron. This was a summer-type camp but only for sailing. I learned all about knots, 'coming about', spinnakers, capsizing, etc... It is not my favorite thing. However, I absolutely loved speed boats and was out on Lake St. Louis all the time. Would love to own a boat again - awesome!

Cats
We don't have any cats anymore but we had many in the past. They are cuddly (if they feel like it), affectionate (if they are in the mood), come when they are called (unless they have something better to do), and quite intelligent (always). They are extremely amusing to watch, especially when they are kittens and frolic with whatever is handy. Cats are a hoot.

Erratic
This is actually not funny but true! People, in general, are overreacting in all facets of life. It's like everyone lives in a 'reality TV show'. Truly ridiculous. What makes it worse is people believe these shows are what 'real' life is like and forget to live a 'real' life. Soap opera responses seem to be the norm. I think that what used to be called 'normal' is now quite the exception. Sad, really.

Another One Bites The Dust
What is it about earrings? Inevitably I will find a pair that I just love and, within months, I will lose one. I will look everywhere and so will John but...nothing. Very sad really. Have a lot of single earrings hanging around 'just in case I find the other one'; how likely is that after a year or two? So, between single socks and single earrings I have quite an interesting collection --- do you?

John George
John was diagnosed, a while back, with a very rare form of cancer of his larynx. This photo shows him ringing the bell on the last day of his radiation therapy and holding the 'mask' that held him immobile while undergoing the treatments. We can tell he is thankful it is over - look at the smile. We all pray for a good report when he goes to see his doctor in the very near future.
